The Fall is Coming..

-
Today was the last summer day with the summer temperature. The autumn is coming. This night. I can hear the cold wind blowing and (as the window is opened) I can feel the change of temperature. It is getting lower. Since today I was sleeping under very thin cover. Today I will sleep under the duvet for the first time. Yesterday I also noticed that the days are getting shorter. The dark is falling about 8p.m. nowadays.
I like autumn, the warm colours of trees, the different birds around than in summer, the different mood and atmosphere everywhere, the activities connected with autumn as harvesting, e.g. picking apples or helping to pick all the bunches of grapes in the vineyards and then making wine.
Every change in the nature is a bit of magic. Spring is fresh, wakening up and everything is brand-new. Summer is jolly, free and in blossom. Winter is a bit depressed (mainly if there is no snow), sluggish and slow. But autumn is both the most moody and cheerful period of the year. It is like slowing down and making the reserves of energy for the winter.

The Autumn
by Elizabeth Barrett Browning

Go, sit upon the lofty hill,
And turn your eyes around,
Where waving woods and waters wild
Do hymn an autumn sound.
The summer sun is faint on them -
The summer flowers depart -
Sit still - as all transform'd to stone,
Except your musing heart.
How there you sat in summer-time,
May yet be in your mind;
And how you heard the green woods sing
Beneath the freshening wind.
Though the same wind now blows around,
You would its blast recall;
For every breath that stirs the trees,
Doth cause a leaf to fall.

Oh! like that wind, is all the mirth
That flesh and dust impart:
We cannot bear its visitings,
When change is on the heart.
Gay words and jests may make us smile,
When Sorrow is asleep;
But other things must make us smile,
When Sorrow bids us weep!

The dearest hands that clasp our hands, -
Their presence may be o'er;
The dearest voice that meets our ear,
That tone may come no more!
Youth fades; and then, the joys of youth,
Which once refresh'd our mind,
Shall come - as, on those sighing woods,
he chilling autumn wind.

Hear not the wind - view not the woods;
Look out o'er vale and hill -
In spring, the sky encircled them -
The sky is round them still.
Come autumn's scathe - come winter's cold -
Come change - and human fate!
Whatever prospect Heaven doth bound,
Can ne'er be desolate.

Indian summer is probably my favourite part of the year. I live in the area where there are lots of vineyards and the fall is expecially connected with the vintage for me. It is quite hard work, but I love the moments when I stand in the middle of grapevine trees almost alone and when look around I can see nothing but another grapevine trees, some dark brown plough fields, and of course trees and bushes in such magic colours just autumn can make.

The colours are so nostalgic and earthy. This is the word - for me autumn is earthy.

Beautiful sentiment, perfect photo. I hope all is going well with your busy students. It's got to take a lot of preparation and organization to teach in two different places.

To Peťa: Yes, a long walk through wonderful autumn scenery is one of my favourite relaxing activity.

To PJ: I was a bit afraid of teaching in two different places, but my fear was useless. The headmaster at the new school is a very kind and fine woman, and my students there are also great people. I am lucky to have so wonderful students to care for:-) The only thing which makes me a bit downcast is one of my new colleagues. The girl has no experience with teaching at school, also her qualification is not proper, but her ego is huge and she makes no compromises and doesn´t listen to our advices. Maybe the word "big-headed" is the right one. It is not easy to work with someone like her.
My next post will be about my recent teaching days as the teaching is occupying my mind the most nowadays:-)
